Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning is an essential part of our daily program. We believe that spending time outdoors supports children’s physical wellbeing, confidence, and connection to the natural world.
Our outdoor environments are designed to encourage active play, exploration, and discovery. Children are given opportunities to climb, run, dig, create, and experiment, helping them develop strength, coordination, and resilience while learning to assess risks in a safe and supported way.
Through nature-based experiences, children build curiosity, creativity, and respect for the environment. Our educators intentionally extend learning outdoors by incorporating gardening, sensory play, imaginative play, and collaborative activities that support social skills and problem-solving.
We value the benefits of fresh air and open-ended play and ensure children have regular opportunities to learn and grow in outdoor settings that are engaging, inclusive, and fun.
School Readiness
Preparing for school goes far beyond learning to read and write. At Over the Hills Academy, we provide a comprehensive School Readiness Program inspired by the Early Years Learning Framework, designed to support children as they move confidently and successfully into primary school.
